Jaku Konbit's Academy

We pledge to make Earth and Sky our yardstick and Eternity our measurement of success.

Jaku Konbit’s Academy is a Saturday educational and cultural program that provides a stimulating, enjoyable and quality African-centered education for children and youth of African and Caribbean descent between the ages of 4 and 17 years. The Academy is based on a holistic learning model designed to develop the full potential in our children and youth by building their self-confidence through cultural awareness and academic excellence. The program runs from October to April.

Our Mission

To develop the full potential in our children and youth through cooperative play, teamwork, cultural awareness and imagination rooted in the richness of African and Caribbean traditions and cultural expression

Inspiration

The greatness our ancestors achieved in the arts and sciences inspires us to help African-Canadian children reach their limitless potential. We believe a part of this great legacy is the birth right of each of our participants and in a culturally-affirming environment that builds self-esteem and a healthy self-image, they will add to the legacy of African greatness to the their descendants and the World. Our civilizations walked the edge of human genius and imagination never ceases to be fresh, innovative and vibrant and we can never truly lose our way- the example of our ancestors is our guide. This is the spirit of VICTORY that inspires the Jaku Konbit’s Academy.
