Youth Leadership

The Jaku Konbit Youth Leadership Training program helps Black-Canadian youth gain leadership skills through workshops and mentorship. We are committed to educating and encouraging youth to become leaders within the community at large. Participants learn to become leaders in various ways, but mainly through their volunteer work. Taking on an issue or project, starting the process in solving a problem or fulfilling a need and then provide solutions which benefits the whole community as a whole. In the past, youth have been involved in a park restoration activity. Essentially, they identify a park that needs attention due to garbage, dirt and grime. A cleaning day is organized and our youth leaders participate in restoring the park’s beauty by cleaning up garbage, sweeping etc. Our program helps to foster productive members of society, who are assertive and action-oriented. While participating in our leadership training, participants learn to work as a team, develop excellent communication skills etc.

We teach youth how to develop their own personal leadership style, how to communicate effectively and how to engage in the process of planning and delivery.
